Tropical Smoothie Cafe

Client Overview

Tropical Smoothie Cafe, established in 1997, has expanded to over 900 locations across the United States, providing a diverse range of health-conscious food and beverage options. Renowned for its smoothies crafted from real fruits, vegetables, and natural ingredients, the cafe also offers a selection of sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads, bowls, and salads. With a commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients, Tropical Smoothie Cafe seeks to promote healthier lifestyles through its nutritious and flavorful offerings, catering to individuals who prioritize convenience without compromising quality or nutrition.

The Challenge

Our client faced significant challenges, including the inability to customize its legacy SaaS solution to align with evolving product roadmap requirements, hindering scalability and innovation. Furthermore, there was a notable decline in sales and customer service performance, driven by delayed verification processes, inadequate automation, and inefficient build and release cycles. Compounding these issues, the back-end technology exhibited suboptimal performance in integrating with food aggregators, resulting in operational inefficiencies and a negative impact on service delivery.

Our Approach

We implemented a greenfield solution to migrate Tropical Smoothie Cafe from the legacy Level Up platform to OLO as the new ordering platform. This was supported by a secure, scalable microservices orchestration layer to integrate mobile and web APIs with OLO seamlessly. Our team also developed a React Native mobile app and a ReactJS-based group ordering platform for iOS and Android. To streamline processes, we deployed automated CI/CD pipelines using AWS native and non-native services, ensuring efficient development, testing, and deployment. The solution drove scalability, improved performance, and supported future growth.
